JPG is a familiar choice for photos, email attachments and websites that require a JPEG upload. It can make photographic images easier to share by using lossy compression.
PNG is often the better original for logos, screenshots and artwork with transparent backgrounds. Keep it when sharp text or exact pixels matter. Converting a simple graphic to JPG can even make the file larger.

No. PNG to JPG conversion happens in your browser on your device. FileTavi does not receive your images. Keep this tab open until you have downloaded your results.
JPG cannot store transparency. FileTavi fills transparent areas with white by default. You can choose a dark, cream or custom background color before converting.
JPG uses lossy compression, so some detail can change, even at the highest quality setting. A setting of 90% is a useful starting point for photos. Keep your original PNG if you need exact pixels, transparency or crisp text.
Often for photographs, but not always. Simple graphics, screenshots and small images can be smaller as PNGs. FileTavi shows the actual output size so you can compare before downloading.
You can add up to 20 static PNGs per batch, up to 50 MB each and 150 MB total. Each image can contain up to 24 million pixels, with neither side exceeding 16,384 pixels. Animated PNGs are not supported. Large images also depend on your device’s available memory.
The converter keeps the decoded image’s pixel width and height without resizing. It re-encodes the image, so original metadata such as comments and camera information is not retained. Color appearance can vary with the browser and display.
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same image format. FileTavi uses the .jpg extension for its downloads.
