Set quality yourself or choose a maximum size per image. Keep original dimensions or optionally limit the longest side, then click Compress JPG.
Check the preview, actual bytes and size change. A missed target is clearly marked. Download each JPEG or collect the results in a ZIP.
A document form, email attachment or profile photo upload can have a file-size limit. JPEG quality and optional resizing give you two ways to work toward that limit, while keeping the image in JPG format.
Smaller files come with tradeoffs: lower JPEG quality loses detail, and smaller dimensions reduce resolution. A JPEG may already be compact, so re-encoding can also increase its size. FileTavi shows what was actually produced and never calls an over-limit file a matched target.

The details behind your download.
Add your JPG or JPEG images, choose Target file size and select 200 KB, 100 KB or a custom maximum. Click Compress JPG and check each result. A file is marked within target only when its actual byte size meets the limit. One KB is 1,000 bytes.
No. This tool re-encodes JPEG pixels, and detail can change even at the highest quality setting. Lower quality generally saves more space. Compare the preview and keep your original; the result cannot restore detail already lost. Browser encoders and color handling can differ.
Target mode tries JPEG quality settings between 10% and 95% at your selected dimensions. If those attempts cannot meet the limit, the result is marked Target not reached with its actual size. You can still preview or download it, or explicitly choose smaller dimensions and retry. Resizing never happens automatically.
Original displayed dimensions are kept by default. If you choose a maximum longest side, the image is reduced proportionally only when needed; smaller images are never enlarged. Display orientation follows browser decoding. Original metadata such as EXIF, comments and camera information is not retained.
Your original may already use efficient JPEG settings. A higher quality or a different browser encoder can create a larger file. FileTavi displays the actual size change, including increases. Try lower quality or smaller dimensions rather than assuming every re-encode makes a file smaller.
No. Conversion happens in your browser on your device. FileTavi does not receive your images. Keep this tab open until you have downloaded your results.
Yes. The selected settings apply to each image in a batch. Target mode offers 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB and a custom whole-number maximum from 1 to 50,000 KB. The limit applies to each JPEG, not to the combined ZIP. Preview individual results and download them separately or as a ZIP.
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two filename extensions for the same image format. JPG, JPEG and JFIF extensions are accepted; the file must contain valid JPEG image data. Add up to 20 files per batch, up to 50 MB each and 150 MB total. Each image can contain up to 24 million pixels, with neither side exceeding 16,384 pixels. Converted results are limited to 200 MB per tab. Your device’s available memory can impose lower practical limits.
